This is the third time that Mariotti has been drafted in his career. He made 35 appearances in his Coastal career and compiled a 13-2 record. He carried a no-hitter into the seventh inning in a 10-0 win over Charleston Southern April 1 and pitched a complete-game shutout, striking out 10, in a 4-0 win over Notre Dame Feb. He allowed just one earned run in six innings in a 13-4 win over Winthrop in the Big South Tournament May 25. He had a 4.35 earned-run average and was among the top-10 pitchers in strikeouts in the Big South Conference. Mariotti struck out 65 hitters in 91 innings pitched and allowed only 19 walks.
